Super Sunday in Memory of Steve by Chris Whalley

On the beautifully sunny Sunday 5th August 2018, 17 players – 11 men and 6 junior boys – battled it out on the courts in the annual open singles competition in memory of NBTC club member, Steve Campbell, who sadly died at a young age.

The tennis played was of the highest quality, enjoyed by the large number of spectators present and culminating in an excellent final between Ellis Porter and Chris Morris.

The final had many breathtaking rallies and was very close, being decided on a tie-break, which saw Ellis Porter crowned as this year’s champion.

Steve’s parents, Patsy and Pete Campbell, his sister, Catherine, and nephews, Harvey and Isaac, were on hand to assist NB&TC President, Sylvia Johnson, make the presentations at the end of the day.
