Norbreck Bowling and Tennis Club’s newest tennis coaches have been officially appointed.
Paul Bentley, top coach at the club, presented Ella, Eve, Georgia and Amelia with their LTA Tennis Leader certificates and coaching shirts. He said: “The girls have worked incredibly hard to achieve this qualification and we’re all really proud of them.”
The Tennis Leader qualification is awarded through the Lawn Tennis Association for ages 13+. The course consists of core and additional modules which take the participants through the basics of tennis and teaches them to understand the variations of the game to be able to introduce the sport and support players of all ages and abilities.
As Tennis Leaders the girls will now be assisting the club coaching team and committee with the day to day running of the courts and the tennis programme including leading practice sessions and helping to run and score in competitions.
Paul added: “It’s a fantastic development pathway for the club too. The new tennis leaders will now be providing additional coaching support which will allow us to grow and develop the club further. If anyone locally, of any age, is thinking of trying tennis or improving their game in 2018, come to the Norbreck Club.”
